Local SEO
For plumbers who mainly want to show up on Google Maps across their patch. This is where most plumbers should start.

- Your Google Business Profile
- Service area and area pages
- Reviews
- Listings and directories
When a pipe bursts or the boiler packs in, nobody scrolls far. They search “emergency plumber near me”, check the map and ring one of the first names they see. We help make sure that’s you. Across the whole area you cover. Local SEO from £250 a month, full SEO from £400.
Someone with a leak isn’t comparing ten websites. They want a plumber who’s near, who’s open now and who they can ring with one tap. Google knows that, so it puts a map with three businesses at the top, then fills the rest of page one with directories.
The three businesses on the map get the calls. If your Google Business Profile is half finished, you’re not one of them.
You cover ten towns, but Google only connects you with the one on your van.
In every area we checked, directories such as Checkatrade, MyBuilder and TrustATrader ranked near the top. The plumbers listed on them are competing on the directory’s terms, not their own.
On a phone, a number someone has to copy by hand is a call you might not get.
UK monthly volume bands and difficulty from Ahrefs (October 2026) for some of the towns and cities we work in, then the searches that appear in Google’s autocomplete.
| Search | Monthly searches | How hard to rank |
|---|---|---|
| plumber manchester | 100+ | Medium |
| plumber liverpool | 100+ | Easy |
| plumber chester | 100+ | Easy |
| emergency plumber preston | 100+ | Easy |
| plumber birmingham | 100+ | Hard |
| plumber whitefield | Under 100 | Not rated |
Most of these are winnable. Liverpool, Chester and Preston are all rated Easy, and Manchester Medium. Only Birmingham is Hard. For a plumber with a complete profile and a decent website, page one is a realistic goal.
These searches all appear in Google’s autocomplete in the UK, which means people are typing them (autocomplete doesn’t tell us how often):
Notice the pattern. “Now”, “open now”, “24 hours” and “contact number” keep coming up. People want to know you’re available and how to reach you, fast. Price and call-out charges come next.
In October 2026 we searched for plumbers in Manchester, Preston and Whitefield and Prestwich, and ran simple checks on 11 plumbers’ websites that ranked. The samples are small, so treat these as what we found, not figures for every plumber.
So the plumbers who rank aren’t doing anything fancy. Most have a working site with a phone button. What’s often missing is the layer that tells Google exactly who you are, what you do and where you work, and that’s the layer that decides who gets into the map pack.

For plumbing and heating firms that want to grow beyond the map: more services, more towns, more content.
£400from, a month
Both run on a 6-month minimum, because SEO takes a few months to build. After that it’s month to month. We’ll give you an exact price once we’ve seen your site and the plumbers around you.
Wrapd isn’t a plumber, but it’s a local business that lives on the phone ringing. We rebuilt their website around enquiries and rebuilt their Google Ads around the new site. Their conversion rate doubled, their cost per enquiry halved, and they had 338 more leads than the same period the year before. Good search work isn’t about traffic. It’s about calls you can turn into jobs.
“They’ve built us two cracking websites, a custom questionnaire for our backend, and have been a huge help with SEO and Google Ads/PPC. Since working with them, the quality and consistency of our leads has massively improved.”
If your site has no phone button, no main heading and takes an age to load on a phone signal, SEO is pushing uphill. We build fast websites with a phone button on every page, so SEO has something to send people to. £1,000 to start, then from £200 a month for 12 months. After that, the website is yours. Web design →
Anything else, just ask. You’ll get a straight answer from one of us.
It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Directories ranked near the top in every area we checked, so being listed on one can bring work in. But on a directory you’re one name among many, and you’re on their terms. Your own Google Business Profile and website are the parts you own. We make sure all of them carry the same details, so each one backs up the other.
Only by actually offering it, and saying so clearly. That means emergency call-outs listed as a service on your Google profile, opening hours that show when you’re available, a page about your emergency service, and a phone button that works with one tap. If you don’t do out-of-hours work, we won’t pretend you do.
Yes. Plumbers who travel to customers can hide their address and set a service area instead. You do need a real address to verify the profile, but customers don’t have to see it.
You can show up across your patch, but you’ll usually rank best closest to your base. We set your service area to match where you work, build pages for the towns you cover most, and put the effort where it brings the most calls.
It depends on where you are. Ahrefs rates “plumber liverpool”, “plumber chester” and “emergency plumber preston” as Easy, “plumber manchester” as Medium and “plumber birmingham” as Hard. In most places, a plumber who gets the basics right has a real chance.
Maybe not all of it. If you just want a steadier flow of local calls, local SEO on its own is usually enough. We’ll tell you honestly on the first call.
Your SEO is carried out by our specialist SEO partner and managed by us. You deal with Dan and Jordan, two experienced specialists who agree the plan with you, check the work and report back every month. Hands-on, and honest about what’s working.
No, and we don’t guarantee rankings. Nobody controls Google’s results, and anyone who promises first place is guessing. We promise honest work, clear reports and effort pointed at the searches that make your phone ring.
Local SEO is from £250 a month and full SEO from £400 a month, on a 6-month minimum, then month to month.
No hard sell. Just an honest conversation about your business. We’ll check your Google profile, your website and the plumbers and directories around you, and tell you plainly what we’d do first. It’s over video, so you can take it from the van.
