People rarely search for just “an accountant”. They search for an accountant for landlords, for contractors, for dentists or for the self-employed, often with a town on the end. We get your practice found for the specialisms you’re best at and the places you serve. Then we put the trust signals up front that turn a search into a call. SEO from £400 a month, local SEO from £250.
Nobody switches accountant on a whim. They’re handing over their finances, so they look for proof before they get in touch. Who you work with. What you specialise in. What your clients say, and which professional body you belong to.
And they search specifically. Google’s suggestions show it: “accountant for landlords”, “accountants for dentists”, “accountant for contractors”, “accountant for self employed hairdresser”. A practice with one general “Services” page gives Google nothing to match those searches with.
That gives SEO two jobs for an accountant:
“Accountants” searches by place, with monthly UK volume bands and difficulty ratings from Ahrefs (October 2026).
| Search | Monthly searches | How hard to rank |
|---|---|---|
| accountants manchester | 100+ | Medium |
| accountants bury | 100+ | Easy |
| accountants preston lancashire | 100+ | Not rated |
| accountants liverpool | 100+ | Hard |
| accountants chester | 100+ | Hard |
| accountants birmingham | 100+ | Hard |
And these are some of the searches Google suggests as people type, in the UK, in October 2026. Autocomplete tells us people make these searches, not how often:
Big cities are hard, towns less so. Ahrefs rates “accountants” with Liverpool, Chester and Birmingham as Hard, Manchester as Medium and Bury as Easy. Every one of them gets more than 100 searches a month.
Niche searches name the client. “Accountant for landlords” or “accountants for dentists” tells you exactly who’s searching and what they need. A page written for that client is the clearest possible match.
Niche and town combine. “Accountants liverpool for self employed” shows people put the two together. A practice with pages for its specialisms and its towns can be found both ways.
If you searched “SEO for accountants” to find this page, Google fills in the rest as you type, with suggestions like “seo agency for accountants” and “seo for accounting firms”. We don’t have a reliable monthly figure for that search, so we won’t make one up.
As part of the research for our city pages in October 2026, we checked the websites of 12 accountancy firms that came up for everyday searches in Manchester, Preston and Birmingham. Two more in Preston blocked our checks, so they’re not counted. The samples are small, so treat these as what we found, not as figures for every practice.
This is a mature sector online. Every practice we checked had a phone number you could tap, so the basics won’t set you apart. The gaps are in the details, and in being specific. The firm with a page for landlords, in Bury, with reviews from landlords, is the one that matches the search.
Google says local results are “mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity”. For an accountant, relevance is where most of the ground is won. Make it obvious which clients you’re right for.

Both run on a 6-month minimum, because SEO takes a few months to build. After that it’s month to month. We’ll give you an exact price once we’ve seen your site, your specialisms and the practices around you. Expertise without the overheads.
Wrapd Studios isn’t an accountancy practice, but it’s a business that depends on the right people getting in touch. We rebuilt their website around enquiries and rebuilt their Google Ads around the new site. Their conversion rate doubled. Their cost per enquiry halved. And they had 338 more leads than the same period the year before. For a practice, that enquiry is a new client, and we work towards it the same way.
“They’ve built us two cracking websites, a custom questionnaire for our backend, and have been a huge help with SEO and Google Ads/PPC. Since working with them, the quality and consistency of our leads has massively improved.”
If every service is crammed onto one page, or your website’s words are shared with other firms using the same template, SEO is pushing uphill. We build accountancy websites with a page for every service and specialism, with design, development and marketing under one roof. £1,000 to start, then from £200 a month for 12 months. After that, the website is yours. Your website, yours to keep. Website for accountants →
Anything else, just ask. You’ll get a straight answer from one of us.
It depends on the town. Ahrefs rates “accountants” with Liverpool, Chester and Birmingham as Hard, Manchester as Medium and Bury as Easy. And all 12 practice websites we checked had a phone number you could tap, so the basics won’t set you apart. Specialism pages, your towns and your reviews are where a practice pulls ahead.
For the clients you want more of, yes. Someone searching “accountant for landlords” wants a page about landlords that answers their questions, not a list of every service you offer. A dedicated page also gives Google a clear reason to show you for that search.
Yes. The map results favour businesses close to the person searching, so your Google Business Profile will mostly win work near your office. Specialism pages aren’t tied to one place. A strong page for landlords or contractors can bring in clients from further away.
Yes, if your firm is a member. Each professional body has its own rules on how its logo and wording can be used, so we follow those and check the details with you before anything goes live.
We’ll look at it first. If the words on your site are shared with other firms on the same template, it’s harder to stand out. We’ll tell you honestly whether the website is holding you back.
Your SEO is carried out by our specialist SEO partner and managed by us. You deal with Dan and Jordan directly. We agree the plan with you, check the work and report back every month. A genuine partnership, without the agency overheads.
No. Nobody controls Google’s results, and anyone who promises first place is guessing. What we do promise is honest work, clear reports and effort pointed at the clients you want.
SEO is from £400 a month and local SEO from £250 a month, on a 6-month minimum, then month to month.
No hard sell. Just an honest conversation about where your practice shows up today. We’ll check your website, your Google profile and the practices around you, and tell you plainly which specialisms and towns we’d go after first. The call is over video, so it fits around your clients, even in January.
