A Studio Website As Bold As The Installations It Shows.

The Business

Helix is an immersive content studio based at Islington Mill in Salford. The team has spent fifteen years making film, animation and interactive work for museums, expos, live events and brands, and handles projects end to end, from the first idea to commissioning on site.

The work is the kind people travel to see. Helix has made content for the Oman Across The Ages Museum in Nizwa, the Saudi Arabia pavilion at the World Expo in Kazakhstan, holograms at the Roman Baths and the British Music Experience in Liverpool, and a VR film of Manchester in lockdown for the BBC. Its services cover immersive installations, 360° video, digital twins and VR production.

The Challenge

When your clients are museums, cultural centres and global brands, the website is often the first thing a commissioning team looks at. It has to show the quality of the work and make it easy to start a conversation.

The old homepage, archived in September 2024, opened with a full-width video banner and no headline on it. The first heading, “Innovative Immersive Experiences”, sat underneath, followed by three paragraphs of introduction. The menu ran to seven items in capitals: About, Projects, Services, VR, Virtual Tours, Hire and Contact. The phone number and email address appeared only in the footer, and there was no enquiry form or contact button anywhere on the homepage itself.

What We Did

We designed and built a new website in Helix’s purple and cyan, set against a dark background that lets the project imagery glow.

The header now carries the phone number, email address and a Contact Us button on every page. The homepage opens with a clear headline over a background video, with two buttons straight underneath: View Services and Contact Us. We gave each service its own page, so someone looking for a 360° film doesn’t have to read about digital twins to find it.

The projects page brings the portfolio together in one place. Each project is labelled with where it is and the kind of work involved, and visitors can filter by 360° video, immersive installations or VR. A contact form, with a short question about what the enquiry is for, sits at the foot of the main pages, alongside the studio address and a link for directions.

What Changed

Helix now has a website that leads with what the studio does and who it does it for. A visitor can read the headline, choose a service or get in touch without scrolling, and on a desktop the phone number is on screen from the moment the page loads.

The work itself is easier to explore. Each project has its own page, labelled with its location and the kind of work involved, so someone planning a VR experience can go straight to Helix’s VR projects. Enquiries come through a form that asks what they’re about, rather than relying on someone copying an email address from the footer.

What we built

Built Around How Their Customers Decide.

  • 01

    Contact Details Always In View

The phone number, email address and a Contact Us button sit in the header, so a curator or producer can get in touch from whichever page they land on.

  • 02

    A Page For Every Service

Immersive installations, 360° video, digital twins and VR production each have their own page, so visitors go straight to the kind of work they need.

  • 03

    Projects You Can Filter

Seventeen projects, from a museum in Nizwa to holograms at the Roman Baths, each tagged with its location and filterable by the kind of work involved.

  • 04

    Enquiries That Arrive Sorted

The contact form asks whether it’s a service enquiry, a general question or something else, so the team knows what they’re answering before they reply.
